How this site was made

The site is built with Claude Design and Claude Code, and this page documents how.

The process

I started by giving Claude Design good context, so I could iterate on and focus the design guide. The third version stuck. I handed the guide over to Claude Code, which worked with skills I have built for it: /prd, /norwegian-software-guardrails and /secure-dev-guardrails.

Before anything was built, we measured the old site: Lighthouse, an accessibility check and screenshots at three screen widths. The numbers live in the repo and become the baseline for comparison at launch.

The building itself happens in sessions with Claude Code, in loops against the done-criteria (see how I work). Checks run automatically before every build, decisions are logged with a date and a rollback command, and everything is verified in a running preview before it enters the history. Along the way we changed design direction completely. That sits in the log as a documented decision, not as an overwrite.

Stack and data

Astro, with a small React island for the game in /sandbox, hosted on Vercel. The fonts Hanken Grotesk, Atkinson Hyperlegible and Anybody are self-hosted and subsetted, all under the SIL Open Font License. The live numbers on the front page come from a data file in the repo and GitHub's API, with a static reserve if the fetch fails.

Lighthouse numbers and the full build history will be published here at launch.

The site is run by Stian Glomsrød (sole proprietorship, Norwegian org. no. 838 126 782). The coffee support via Vipps in the Norwegian teacher's room is a voluntary gift with nothing in return — the tools are free regardless.

Accessibility

The target is WCAG 2.1 AA. The statement will be published together with the test log once the site is complete.

Privacy

The site sets no cookies and has no tracking or analytics. Your choices for theme and colour hue are stored only locally in your own browser, and never leave your machine.

If you use the contact form, your name, email address and message are forwarded to me as an email. Nothing is stored in any database. The basis for the processing is that you chose to get in touch, and the details are used only to reply to you.

Two data processors are involved: Vercel hosts the site, and Resend delivers the email from the form. Both process data within the EU/EEA. If you want to see what I have, or have it deleted, just send an email to stianglomsrod@gmail.com.
